So, so tired

Saturday, January 31, 2009

This week has been a tough one. Brittany fell sick late Monday night with all the symptoms of a horrible, nasty flu. She had a temperature as high as 103.0 degrees and has been achy with a sore throat and lots of drainage. Sounds fun, huh? Well, add on top of that she is still trying to breastfeed and pump, and you have one sick, tired mommy! Our pedi says it's okay to still breastfeed with a fever, for those of you that might be curious as to why she's still attempting this, it is so that Savannah gets all the antibodies Brittany is making while she is sick. Helps boost our little girl's immune system. Happy to report Savannah has not gotten sick thus far! Nor have I, for that matter. Anyways, Brittany just started feeling better last night, though she is still coughing and has alot of drainage. Probably won't be until next week sometime that she completely kicks this nastiness.

I, on the other hand, have found out what it truly means to be a dad and husband in charge of just about everything. Taking care of a sick wife and still giving complete care to Savannah has pushed me to exhaustion! Don't get me wrong, I love taking care of my girls, but the lack of sleep and amount of work involved day in and day out gives me a new appreciation for all the parents who go through bouts like this. The hardest part is keeping Savannah away from Brittany as much as possible, all the while trying to give Brittany the care she needs. It is definitely a delicate balancing act.

So, let's hope Brittany gets better soon, and whatever she has/had stays away from Savannah! Speaking of our little girl, she is doing a couple new things. It's always something new every week. Man, even something new every couple days now it seems! She is talking up a storm making so many new sounds. I've heard her say 'buh', 'mah', 'aloo', 'loooah', 'aye' amongst so many other combinations of sounds. She really is practicing her talking! Nothing comes out as words of course, and anything she says that we would deem coherent is definitely by accident. But it won't be long before she starts making sense of all those sounds! She has also found out the sucking in her lower lip is quite amusing. She'll suck on it for a bit, spit it out, then suck it right back in. And finally, she has discovered the joy of taking baths with mommy! It has only been a couple baths so far (because we normally give her a bath in her little tub), but she loves standing in the water with mommy holding her and splashing around with her hands. She smiles and laughs the whole time!

I will try to get some more pics up soon, I promise. This week has been tough, so maybe next week I'll have some new ones!

I just added the link of "followers" to see who keeps up with this blog. It is over on the right side. Please feel free to add yourself. I would love to know who follows.

It has been a busy weekend. Friday was girls night at Jackie's house. We had some dinner and then helped with invitations. Last night Charlie and I went to a couples shower for Josh and Jackie. We had fun. Charlie and I enjoyed the evening out with eachother in general. Today will be spent with Savi and hopefully relaxing.

Return of Charlie...and updates!

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

Yes, it's true, I haven't posted in awhile. Brittany has been really good at keeping the blog going. So many things to say, I'm not even sure where to begin.

Staying home with Savannah has been great. Keeping a full-time job in the process as well leaves me wanting more sleep every night. But sleep is an easy thing to sacrifice when it comes to taking care of our little girl. The minute I wake up and see her smiling face is all I need to get up and get going.

Savannah is sleeping in her room again. We had been cautious after the first time we moved her in there, and brought her back to our room. We were afraid she was refluxing to the point of choking, and put her to sleep in her playpen so we could be closer to her if she needed help. Better to be overly cautious than take chances in my book. However, after her four month checkup, the pedi didn't seem too overly concerned, and told us to watch for a couple serious reflux symptoms, of which Savi really hasn't had any. So, she's back in her room and sleeping great at night! I keep the baby monitor at my bedside and crank up the volume so I can keep an eye on her at night. She fusses a little, but always puts herself back to sleep. It's been nice to get a little more sleep, but the constant alertness that comes with being a parent isn't something I expect to cease any time soon.

As far as development goes, Savannah is doing great. She can roll from back to front with ease, and is constantly grabbing her feet and sucking on her toes. She can't quite roll front to back yet, but I am sure it's only a matter of time. She stands up extremely well, and when she has her hands on something firmly attached to the ground, she can even hold herself up (with daddy's hands hovering around her tiny belly if he needs to catch her). She can hold herself up on her elbows when she is prone, but hasn't quite mastered that task on her own. It always takes a little help from mom and dad. She's babbling up a storm, but is always even chattier when Brittany comes home. Which brings me to my next topic...

I spend 4 days of the week at home with my daughter, and she is so much fun to be around. Always talking, laughing, putting toys in her mouth, and keeping me on my toes. I love it. She loves spending time with her dad! But when mommy comes home, her face lights up and she laughs and squeels more than any other time. She LOVES when her mommy comes home from work. She is constantly babbling and laughing with such excitement that you can tell mommy is her favorite person in the world. As she should be! Mommy still has all the good food!

We've got more pictures we need to post, but as I am at work right now, I don't have access to any of them. So look for pictures soon!

Everything is great and wonderful. I love being a dad. Life is awesome.

Post Baby!

I officially weighed 115lbs. this morning. This is what I weighed pre Savi:) Such a good feeling! It took a little over 4 months to get there and thankfully with not to much work. I wanted it to be gone immediately but that did not happen so I definitely stressed. Eventually though it did. I feel like I need to be toner though. I think that would normally come from dance which I was off of for a good portion of my prenancy, so I am definitely hoping that gets me right where I want to be. Savannah was well worth it and I am slowing becoming used to the fact that I will have to go through the ups and downs of weight stuff again when Charlie and I decide we are ready for another:)

Savannah is getting so big! Charlie is so good with her. He stays with her almost everyday and is a great dad! She is eating some rice cereal, laughing a little, and rolling from back to tummy. Lots of little milestones:) She weighted 13.1 lbs. and was 25 inches long. Apparently she is a little long for her age. Tall and skinny is fine with me:) The doctor said everything else looked great! We fall in love with her more and more everyday:)

Apparently Charlie has no time to blog:) So now in order to keep it updated I am doing it. Which is so not how this all started out. Oh well!

We took Savi for her 3 month pictures at Portrait Innovations. They did a great job. Savannah was all smiles and it was pretty painless. Here are 2 of the shots we picked:)
